Course Overview:
This course is taught by Karen Campbell, Esquire, Public Guardian, and satisfies the initial statutory education requirement for professional guardians. The material provided in this course includes such pertinent information as the Types of Guardianship, Role of the Courts, Role of the Guardian and Practice Protocols, Role of Attorneys, Adjudication of Incapacity and Appointment of a Guardian Process, Baker Act Proceedings, Guardian Reporting Requirements, Abuse/Neglect Issues, Social Services and Insurance, End-of-Life issues, and Guardianship Termination. Additional guest speakers are invited to participate from the Florida Dept. of Elder Affairs, Area Agency on Aging, Big Bend Hospice, and Adult Protective Services.
Refund Policy:
• Full refund if written request is received 15 days before first class or the Office of Public Guardian, Inc. (OPG) chooses to cancel the class. (OPG reserves the right to cancel a scheduled class if there are less than 3 registrants by registration deadline.)
• 50% refund if written request is received 1-14 days before first class
• No refund if request is made on or after the first scheduled class
